The Election Commission today officially announced the schedule for the upcoming general elections, initiating a multi-stage voting process across all states. As per the Chief Election Commissioner, the elections will be conducted in 7 phases spanning over 6 weeks to ensure smooth logistics and absolute security.
With this announcement, the Model Code of Conduct comes into force immediately. All state and central governments are barred from declaring new policy decisions, financial grants, or infrastructure projects until the election process concludes. In addition, tight security measures are being set up in sensitive constituencies.
Political parties have welcomed the announcement and expressed readiness. Over 900 million citizens are eligible to cast their votes at various polling stations. EVM machines and VVPAT systems have undergone comprehensive testing, assuring transparent polls.
